Ceramic Surface Decorating Workshop - 2 days January 30/31
Saturday January 30 10 am - 4 pm and Sunday January 31 11 am - 4 pm
Join Danna Jo Ritter of Texas MudDauber Pottery and Magda Dia of Jump into Art Studios as they explain, demonstrate and teach the challenging yet satisfying processes of creating and printing images on pottery. This hands-on workshop guarantees participants leave with a clear knowledge of how to recreate results in their personal studios. Processes include making and using silk screens, making and applying mocha diffusion, working with and making images to transfer.
Day 1: Learn the wonderful work of mixing slip with mason stains to create mocha diffusion (greenware provided*), next try your hand at photo transfers on bisque tiles (provided*) and finally work with commercial silk screening plus creating your personal silk screen.
Day 2: print your image on imulsion laid silk screen, work with printing using gesley borate and underglazes. Finish the day with combining your favorites silk screen and prints onto pottery.
This class is a potluck lunch - bring a dish to share.
*Most materials provided but participants encouraged to bring 2 additional bisque ware pieces with smooth surfaces and 2 greenware pieces (soft leather hard).
